Kathmandu, February 8: Veteran Nepali actor Sunil Thapa has passed away at the age of 68. Known for his role as Priyanka Chopra‘s coach in the film “Mary Kom,” Thapa’s death has deeply affected Chopra, who expressed her heartfelt emotions regarding his passing.
Thapa appeared in over 250 Nepali films and was recognized for his distinctive roles as a villain. He also made his mark in Bollywood, notably portraying a coach in “Mary Kom.” Additionally, he was part of several successful projects, including the web series “The Family Man 3.”
Priyanka Chopra shared that Thapa provided significant support after the death of her father. She fondly remembered his love and assistance, stating he would always remain her coach.
In her emotional tribute on Instagram, Chopra posted a video clip from “Mary Kom,” writing, “You will always be my coach, sir. You supported me when I lost my father. You loved me and helped me through many tough days without me even realizing it. Your energy, warm hugs, and smile will always be part of my memories.”
Chopra further added, “You left us too soon, but you will never be forgotten. Your kindness and humility helped me when I was emotionally shattered. Thank you, Sunil Thapa. Rest in peace. My condolences and prayers are with your family and loved ones.”
Thapa was admitted to Norvic Hospital in Thapathali, Kathmandu, after his health suddenly deteriorated. Reports indicate that his death was due to cardiac arrest.
