Uttar Pradeshs International Film City Project Gains Momentum

Noida, February 5: The ambitious ‘International Film City’ project, spearheaded by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is now gaining significant traction. Located in the Jewar area of Gautam Buddha Nagar, this will be Uttar Pradesh’s first International Film City, with the film ‘Mom-2’ set to be the inaugural shoot.

Preparations for filming have already begun on the film city premises. The joint venture between renowned Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor and the Bhutanese group, Beview Bhutanese Film City Private Limited, has commenced land mapping. According to officials, once the mapping is completed, shooting sets will be ready within approximately 20 days, paving the way for the film’s production to begin.

It is noteworthy that the International Film City project has been awarded to the collaboration of famous Bollywood producer-director Boney Kapoor and the Bhutanese group. This company has signed an agreement with the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA). Following YEIDA’s approval of the layout plan, preparations for the project’s first phase have accelerated.

Rajeev Arora, General Manager of Beview Bhutanese Film City Project, stated that alongside shooting preparations, construction of the film city is also underway. Once land mapping is finalized, shooting sets will be ready within 20 days, allowing film-related activities to commence. Additionally, construction of the film city will begin soon, with a formal inauguration expected to be conducted by CM Yogi and PM Modi.

He mentioned that Boney Kapoor’s company produced the Bollywood film ‘Mom,’ released in 2017, and has now made a significant decision to shoot its sequel in Uttar Pradesh.

The International Film City is being developed in Sector-21 along the Yamuna Expressway. This ambitious project aims to establish Uttar Pradesh as a national and international hub for the film, OTT, and web series industries.

Situated near the Jewar International Airport, this film city will feature modern infrastructure, enhanced connectivity, and world-class amenities, positioning the state as an ENTERTAINMENT and aviation hub. Industry experts believe that the shooting of a film like ‘Mom-2’ before the official launch of the film city indicates a growing confidence in Uttar Pradesh’s film policy and infrastructure within the film industry. This project could potentially emerge as a strong alternative to other film production centers in the country, including Mumbai.
