Lucknow, March 5: Nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers have reason to celebrate. Comprehensive information about eco-tourism sites in Uttar Pradesh, along with booking facilities and essential guidance, is now just a click away. The Uttar Pradesh Eco Tourism Development Board (UPETDB) has launched the ‘Uttar Pradesh Eco Tourism’ mobile app, which consolidates information about wildlife sanctuaries, National parks, jungle trails, waterfalls, and rivers into a single digital platform, offering tourists a unique experience.
Uttar Pradesh’s Minister of Tourism and Culture, Jaiveer Singh, stated that the ‘Uttar Pradesh Eco Tourism’ app is a revolutionary step in the tourism sector, developed to meet the demands of the digital age. This initiative aims to connect tourists with nature while promoting local community involvement and environmental conservation. It also positions the state towards a new era of eco-friendly, sustainable, and responsible tourism. However, the app is currently in its initial phase and will undergo continuous updates.
What’s special about the app? Through this mobile application, users can access detailed information about Uttar Pradesh’s eco-tourism sites, including photos, videos, route details, nearby attractions, access information, and the best times to visit. Users can easily find national parks, wetlands, nature trails, forest circuits, rural tourism, and river-based activities. The smart search and filter options allow users to discover destinations based on district, type of activities, budget, distance, popularity, and ratings.
The app features GPS-supported smart maps and navigation, offering swipe-based navigation. Users can save their favorite locations or explore next options. With GPS-supported smart maps, users can view eco-tourism sites, accommodation options, activities, and nearby attractions. Turn-by-turn directions, information about surrounding locations, and offline maps are beneficial in areas with limited network connectivity.
The AI itinerary planner is another standout feature of the ‘Uttar Pradesh Eco Tourism’ app. Utilizing innovative technology, it provides users with personalized travel plans based on available days, time, interests, and locations. Plans to integrate maps and booking systems are underway.
Additionally, the community and review section allows travelers to share their experiences, upload photos and stories, read reviews from other travelers, and rate locations to help others make informed decisions. For safety, the app includes an SOS emergency feature, which provides a one-tap alert, auto-location sharing, an emergency contact directory, and offline SMS support. Users will receive real-time notifications about weather alerts, new eco-tourism destinations, booking reminders, and government advisories.
Currently, the app is available in English and will soon be accessible in Hindi. Interested users can download the Uttar Pradesh eco tourism app from the Google Play Store, with plans for an iOS launch in the near future.
Minister Jaiveer Singh emphasized that the app aims to provide comprehensive information about all eco-tourism sites in the state on a single platform. He noted that often, after visiting a favorite site, tourists have extra time but lack information about nearby attractions. In such cases, the app suggests nearby eco-tourism sites with just one click, enhancing their travel experience. He also mentioned that many additional features will be introduced in the ‘Uttar Pradesh Eco Tourism’ app in the future.
