Uttar Pradesh Begins Budget Session Amid Calls for Dialogue

Lucknow, February 9: The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, announced that the state legislature is commencing its budget session today. This marks the tenth budget of the current government. CM Adityanath urged all members to recognize the legislature as a vital pillar of democracy. He encouraged members to engage in dialogue rather than disrupt proceedings if they wish to raise any issues, emphasizing the government’s belief in resolving problems through communication.

During a conversation with media personnel on Monday, CM Adityanath stated that the session will begin with the Governor’s address, in line with parliamentary traditions. The budget session has two key agendas: the Governor’s address and the general budget. The Governor’s address serves as a document outlining the government’s achievements and extensive plans, which is presented to the public through the assembly. All members will discuss this address. Today, the Governor will deliver his speech to the assembly.

CM Adityanath revealed that the general budget for 2026-27 will be presented on February 11, followed by discussions. The budget session will run from February 9 to February 20. He noted that for the first time, a state government will take steps to highlight its economic achievements. The government has transformed Uttar Pradesh from a state of distress to a breakthrough in India’s economy. Citizens and representatives have the right to know about this journey of economic upliftment, including per capita income growth, employment generation, and financial management that has established Uttar Pradesh as a revenue surplus state for the past five years.

He mentioned that an economic survey report will also be presented in the assembly, serving as an important document for members to review data and engage in discussions.

CM Adityanath reiterated that the legislature is a crucial foundation of democracy. He stressed that dialogue, not disruption, is essential for proceedings. Members should engage in discussions to address issues, as the government is always ready to consider valuable suggestions and take necessary actions for the state’s benefit.

He appealed to opposition members to avoid disrupting proceedings and unnecessary noise. CM Adityanath highlighted that new records have been set in legislative proceedings over the past nine years. The budget session will attract attention from both the state and the nation. It will also provide a platform for members to raise significant issues. The budget session will play a crucial role in accelerating the pace of development in Uttar Pradesh. He urged all members to promote meaningful discussions on public-related issues at this highest legislative platform.
