Uttar Pradesh Assembly President Calls for Cooperative Session

Lucknow, February 8: Ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly session, Assembly President Satish Mahana emphasized the need for decorum and respectful proceedings. He urged leaders from all parties to cooperate, stating that dialogue, discussion, and healthy debate are the cornerstones of parliamentary democracy. The assembly should serve as a platform for deliberation, not chaos.

Addressing an all-party meeting held at the Assembly building, Mahana remarked that agreement and disagreement are natural aspects of democracy. However, in a tumultuous environment, neither the government can present its case effectively, nor can the opposition voice its concerns. He assured that every member would have ample opportunity to express their views, even if it meant extending proceedings late into the evening.

Mahana noted that the Uttar Pradesh Assembly is the largest in the country and sets a standard for legislative bodies nationwide. He highlighted that the past four years have seen significant discussions within the assembly, indicating a strengthening of democratic traditions. He expects all party leaders to present their viewpoints within the bounds of parliamentary decorum and engage in debates in a cordial atmosphere.

He expressed confidence that, as in previous sessions, positive collaboration would continue in the upcoming session. Leaders present at the all-party meeting praised the President’s approach, noting that under his guidance, there have been continuous positive changes in the assembly’s proceedings. They believe that future innovations will further strengthen the assembly’s functioning.

During the meeting, Leader of the House and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also shared his thoughts. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna reassured all party leaders of the government’s commitment to accelerating development and addressing public interest issues positively. He echoed the Chief Minister’s call for peaceful cooperation in the assembly.

Opposition Leader Mata Prasad Pandey, along with leaders from various parties, including Ram Niwas Verma from the Apna Dal (Sonelal), Rajpal Baliyan from the Rashtriya Lok Dal, Om Prakash Rajbhar from the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party, Ramesh Singh from the Nirbal Indian Shoshit Hamara Aam Dal, Aradhana Mishra ‘Mona’ from the Indian National Congress, and Vinod Saroj from the Janata Party Democratic, shared their views and assured cooperation for orderly proceedings.
