New Delhi, February 5: The Delhi Police have apprehended two individuals involved in a conspiracy to disrupt the atmosphere in the national capital just before January 26. A joint team from the Special Cell and Rohini district arrested the suspects within Delhi.
According to reports, the accused attempted to incite unrest by writing slogans such as “Pro-Khalistan” and “Khalistan Zindabad” at two different locations in the city. Investigations revealed that the entire plot is linked to foreign elements. Police sources indicate that Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, a Khalistani terrorist based in Canada, orchestrated the scheme. Pannu allegedly hired Baljinder and Rohit, also known as Kirth, to carry out the task, luring them with a promise of two lakh rupees to write pro-Khalistani slogans in Delhi.
The police investigation also uncovered that Baljinder works as an ambulance driver in Delhi, while Rohit is his close associate. Pannu devised this plan to create tension in the capital and challenge law and order ahead of January 26. Currently, police are continuing their interrogation of both suspects. Authorities suspect that more associates of Pannu may be linked to this network, and efforts are underway to locate them.
It is noteworthy that the Delhi Police filed an FIR against Gurpatwant Singh Pannu on January 23 for allegedly threatening to incite unrest in the capital on January 26. The FIR was registered under sections 196, 197, 152, and 61 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which pertain to Criminal Conspiracy, acts endangering the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of India, and other offenses threatening national security.
This action was initiated following a video circulated on social media, in which Pannu allegedly threatened to target Delhi around Republic Day. In the video, he claimed that pro-Khalistani posters had been affixed in areas like Rohini and Dabri through so-called sleeper cells.
