Agartala, February 5: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha called on students to embrace not only academic education but also moral values. He emphasized that the true purpose of education should be to contribute to the welfare of society and the nation.
During the inauguration of the newly constructed two-story PM-Shri Hajibari Class 12 School building in the Fatikroy assembly constituency of Unakoti district, CM Saha stated that when education is guided by values, students can become responsible, sensitive, and humane citizens.
Following this, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for a new bridge over the Manu River, connecting Saidarpur and Sardapalli in Kumarghat. This bridge, costing ₹1.26 crore, aims to benefit approximately six to seven thousand people in the region. He noted that farmers would particularly benefit, as they could transport their agricultural produce to the Kumarghat market more easily.
He remarked, “The construction of this bridge will also improve access to Kumarghat Railway Station, significantly enhancing connectivity for local residents.”
Discussing law and order in the state, CM Saha highlighted a notable decrease in crime rates, stating that women can now move freely and confidently at night. He termed this a sign of real development.
On the education front, the Chief Minister mentioned that the state government is integrating technology into the education system. Initiatives like Personalized Adaptive Learning (PAL) are being implemented under the National Education Policy to make education more accessible and student-centered.
He said, “Education is a journey from darkness to light. We want to encourage healthy competition among schools. Tripura has made significant progress in higher education infrastructure with the presence of both government and private universities.”
The Chief Minister also noted that the number of seats in medical colleges has been increased, and a new medical college is being constructed in Ambassa. Additionally, institutions like a forensic university and a law university have been established, reducing the need for students to go out of state for higher education.
He concluded, “Along with modernizing the education system, we are fully committed to fostering the development of moral values in students.”
The event was attended by Scheduled Caste Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy, Unakoti District Council Chairman Amalendu Das, District Magistrate Tamal Majumdar, Superintendent of Police Sudambika R., and Kumarghat Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Sumati Das, among other senior officials.
