Mumbai, February 8: The trailer for the film ‘Assi,’ featuring Taapsee Pannu, Mohammad Zeeshan, Naseeruddin Shah, and Supriya Pathak, has been unveiled.
The film addresses the disturbing mindset in society and administration that views girls merely as objects of consumption. The powerful trailer has generated significant anticipation for the film’s release. In the meantime, actor Suniel Shetty has praised the film, calling it deeply touching.
Suniel Shetty shared the trailer on the social media platform ‘X’ and commended the film. He stated, “I just watched the teaser of Assiāit’s a remarkable example of cinema. A heartwarming, fearless story with artists who touch the soul directly. This film not only speaks but also resides in your heart. Wow.”
Users have also supported the actor’s post, stating that films like this are soul-stirring and serve as a strong critique of societal attitudes.
Previously, the film’s director, Anubhav Sinha, discussed the significance of the film’s title. He explained, “This film tells the story of women in our country who have faced sexual abuse. Every day, 80 women become victims of sexual exploitation in our nation, and this is not just my assertion but is backed by reports. News of such incidents appears on the front page one day and on the eighth page the next. People read, express sorrow, and then forget. But I want to know what happens to the woman or girl afterward, how they live their lives, and whether the perpetrators regret their actions. Keeping these statistics in mind, the film is titled Assi.”
The film is set to release in theaters on February 20. Audiences can expect courtroom drama reminiscent of films like ‘Pink’ and ‘Article 15.’
