TMCs Exit from Bengal Seems Inevitable, Claims BJP Leader Shankar Ghosh

Kolkata, February 4: Ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in West Bengal, BJP leader Shankar Ghosh has asserted that the people of Bengal have decided to bid farewell to the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and ensure the party’s exit from the government.

In a conversation in Kolkata regarding the TMC’s opposition to the SIR (State Identification Register), Ghosh noted a significant shift in public sentiment. He stated that there is widespread anger among the populace against the TMC. He emphasized that even Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is aware of this change, as evidenced by her recent visit to Delhi to meet with the Chief Election Commissioner.

“The reality is that the people of Bengal no longer wish to associate with the TMC. This is why they are repeatedly stating that they will fight the SIR issue alone,” Ghosh remarked. He added that the BJP is determined to create a TMC-free Bengal in this election.

Ghosh criticized the TMC for mixing half-truths with falsehoods. He explained that while the Border Security Force (BSF) is responsible for security, it is the state government’s duty to provide land for fencing. Unfortunately, this government has never cooperated in providing land for the BSF’s fencing efforts. He pointed out that illegal immigrants have infiltrated West Bengal, posing a significant threat to national security.

It is noteworthy that the TMC has been consistently targeting the BJP and the Election Commission over the SIR ahead of the assembly elections. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has claimed that the Election Commission is disproportionately cutting voter names in constituencies represented by TMC legislators, while fewer names are being cut in constituencies held by BJP legislators.

TMC leaders also argue that the BJP cannot compete directly, which is why they resort to manipulating voter lists through the Election Commission.
