Patna, February 4: BJP leaders have responded to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee‘s decision to file a case in the Supreme Court regarding the SIR. They accused Banerjee of staging a ‘drama’ to evade electoral defeat and spreading ‘misinformation.’
Bihar Minister Dilip Jaiswal stated that Banerjee has realized that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is losing its footing in West Bengal. He emphasized that her actions are merely a performance aimed at misleading the public. “This is all a theater by Mamata Banerjee. This drama will not last long,” he asserted.
On the same issue, BJP state president Sanjay Sarawagi highlighted the transparency of the Election Commission, noting that no substantial complaints have been raised against it. He pointed out that the SIR process is being implemented across the country, not just in West Bengal.
Sarawagi alleged that Banerjee is orchestrating ‘hooliganism’ through her officials, which he believes will soon come to an end. He described the Election Commission as a ‘constitutional body’ and claimed that the resources of Bengal are being misused.
He further alleged that infiltrators are misusing Bengal’s resources, causing hardships for the local populace. Sarawagi confidently stated that a BJP government in West Bengal is inevitable, and signs of Banerjee’s impending defeat are already visible.
Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdev also targeted Banerjee, asserting that the Chief Minister is merely trying to create a ‘narrative.’ According to Shahdev, Banerjee is aware that she is likely to lose the upcoming elections, which is why she has long claimed that the SIR is being enforced solely to defeat her.
He clarified that the SIR process is applicable nationwide and is not limited to West Bengal.
