Telangana CM Urges Voters to Support Congress in Upcoming Municipal Elections

Hyderabad, February 5: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy urged citizens to vote for the ruling Congress party in the upcoming municipal elections to continue welfare and development programs in the state.

While launching the party’s campaign for the municipal elections scheduled for February 11 in Miryalaguda, Nalgonda district, he promised that Congress would transform municipalities into models of development.

Highlighting the welfare schemes implemented by the Congress government over the past two years, he stated that the party’s victory would signify a win for the poor.

Reiterating that Congress would remain in power for the next eight years, he expressed confidence that the party would wave its flag high in all 123 urban local bodies participating in the elections.

He urged voters to remember key initiatives such as quality rice distribution, ration cards, Rythu Bandhu (farmer support), loan waivers, free bus travel for women, 70,000 government jobs, and Indiramma houses before casting their votes.

“It is your responsibility to ensure this government wins,” he said, noting that his administration has introduced numerous development and welfare programs for the poor, tribals, unemployed youth, women, and minorities.

He criticized the previous government for failing to issue ration cards after the formation of Telangana, stating that the ‘people’s government’ has provided ration cards to millions.

“The coarse rice provided by the previous government was only fit for feeding buffaloes. We are supplying quality rice to 31 million people. Anyone enjoying meals made from this quality rice should vote for the Congress party,” he added.

He mentioned that the government is providing 200 units of free electricity to every household while continuing to offer free electricity for agriculture.

Under the Rythu Bandhu scheme, he noted that farmers receive ₹6,000 per acre, with ₹9,000 crore disbursed to farmers in just nine days. He assured that the next installment of this scheme would be released after the municipal elections.

He claimed that the government has spent over ₹1 lakh crore on farmers to date.

“We have provided free travel for women on RTC buses. If women using these buses vote for Congress, the BJP and BRS won’t even recover their deposits,” he stated.

Revanth Reddy accused former Chief Minister KCR of enticing people with promises of double-bedroom houses, asserting that KCR, during his ten years in office, focused on building a farmhouse and Pragati Bhavan rather than homes for the poor.

He highlighted that since the ‘people’s government’ took office, it has approved 450,000 Indiramma houses.

“We are directly depositing funds into beneficiaries’ accounts without intermediaries or fraud. Every legislator is requesting us to approve more Indiramma houses. We plan to approve new houses in the upcoming budget,” he said.

He accused the previous BRS government of exploiting the public and criticized them for alleged phone tapping involving political opponents, journalists, film stars, and even judges.
