Chennai, February 9: The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) has postponed the Group-2 and Group-2A main examinations scheduled for Sunday, citing discrepancies in the allocation of exam centers. This sudden decision has left thousands of candidates aspiring for government jobs across Tamil Nadu shocked and disheartened.
The abrupt cancellation has not only disrupted candidates’ preparations but has also sparked a political controversy, with several political parties criticizing the state government.
Candidates who traveled from remote areas to reach their exam centers expressed deep anger and disappointment over the unexpected announcement. Many had dedicated years of hard work to prepare for this highly competitive recruitment process.
The sudden postponement has visibly demoralized the candidates. They stated that they had sacrificed their studies, personal lives, and even job opportunities to prepare for this exam. Thus, the last-minute cancellation feels like a waste of their time, resources, and mental energy.
In response to this incident, Vijay, the president of the Tamilaga Vetria Kazhagam (TVK), harshly criticized the DMK government. He stated on social media that the government’s poor planning and administrative incompetence have “played with the hopes of thousands of youth.”
Vijay emphasized that securing a government job is the biggest dream for millions of young people in the state, for which they toil day and night and overcome significant hurdles like preliminary exams.
He further remarked that canceling the main exam at the last moment severely undermines candidates’ confidence and squanders their valuable time.
Vijay also warned that even if a new date for the exam is announced, candidates will need to prepare at the same level again, leading to increased mental stress, uncertainty, and pressure.
According to the TVK president, such administrative negligence reflects the government’s indifference towards youth welfare. He raised concerns about whether there might be serious and hidden reasons behind this cancellation, referencing previous irregularities in municipal job recruitments and other exams.
Vijay called for accountability and transparency, stating that it is natural to suspect that something is being concealed. He urged responsible officials to clarify why the exam was postponed. He also requested the administration to take concrete steps to prevent such incidents in the future and protect the interests of candidates.
He concluded by stating that the youth of the state will not forget this negligence and will respond democratically in the upcoming assembly elections.
Meanwhile, the TNPSC is expected to announce revised exam dates soon.
