
Ranipet, February 9: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the new Tata Motors-Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) manufacturing plant in Ranipet on Monday. He emphasized that the Tata Group is a prominent face of Indian industry, with a long-standing and reliable relationship with Tamil Nadu.
In his address following the inauguration, Chief Minister Stalin highlighted the Tata Group’s strong presence across various sectors, including steel, IT, airlines, automobiles, consumer goods, hospitality, and telecommunications. He described Tata as a true multinational Indian conglomerate, noting that the Tata name carries significant brand value. Tamil Nadu is a leading state in India’s automobile manufacturing hub and is rapidly emerging as the capital for electric vehicle production, backed by its robust industrial heritage.
Stalin expressed pride in the Tata Group’s choice of Tamil Nadu for this new plant, calling it a project of national importance. The facility will manufacture world-class Jaguar luxury cars. During the event, details about the local production and launch of the globally renowned Range Rover were also shared.
The Chief Minister stated that this plant demonstrates Tamil Nadu’s capability to manufacture vehicles that compete globally, with products prepared for international markets. He noted that Tamil Nadu is recognized for balanced and comprehensive development across all districts. He emphasized the need for the state to excel in emerging and new sectors, with the Dravidian model government continuously working towards this goal.
Stalin praised Industry Minister T.R.B. Raja’s efforts, stating that attracting investment is not enough; swift implementation on the ground is equally important. He highlighted that Tamil Nadu’s development model is unique, prioritizing economic progress alongside social justice and women’s empowerment. He expressed hope that companies like Tata Motors will become strong partners in the state’s development journey.
At the end of the event, the Chief Minister thanked Tata Group Chairman N. Chandrasekaran and urged him to establish more factories and research and development centers in Tamil Nadu. He assured that Tamil Nadu is a strong state for investment due to its excellent infrastructure, peaceful environment, and skilled workforce. He concluded by expressing the expectation that Tamil Nadu would remain Tata Group’s first choice for future investments.
