T20 World Cup: Semifinal Teams Set, India’s Path to Final Four Explained

New Delhi, February 27: The race for the semifinals of the T20 World Cup 2026 has intensified. With India’s victory over Zimbabwe, South Africa has secured its place in the semifinals. England has already qualified for the final four as well.

Two semifinal spots are filled, leaving two still open. Despite defeating Zimbabwe by 72 runs, India’s path remains challenging. Under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian team will face the West Indies in their final Super-8 match on Sunday, March 1.

For India to secure a spot in the semifinals, they must win against the Caribbean team. The winner of the upcoming match between India and the West Indies will directly qualify for the semifinals. South Africa has already qualified from Group A.

In Group B, England has clinched a semifinal spot with two consecutive victories. New Zealand has won one of its two matches, while their game against Pakistan was washed out due to rain.

New Zealand will face England in their final Super-8 match on February 27. If New Zealand manages to defeat England, they will easily secure a place in the final four. However, a loss could complicate their chances. The good news for New Zealand is their current net run rate of +3.050.

Pakistan, with only one point after two matches, will play Sri Lanka in their final Super-8 match on February 28. If Pakistan wins, they will have three points. However, they will also need England to defeat New Zealand.

If Pakistan wins against Sri Lanka and New Zealand loses to England, the team with the better net run rate will qualify for the semifinals.
