Kolkata, February 6: In anticipation of the expected surge in travelers during the upcoming Holi festival, Indian Railways has arranged special train services in various directions. The Eastern Railway has planned to operate 94 special trains this year to ensure smooth travel for those heading to their hometowns, visiting family, celebrating the festival, or traveling to significant pilgrimage sites like Puri.
The 94 special train journeys include 10 between Kolkata and Raxaul (via Barauni), 8 between Kolkata and Madhubani (via Barauni), 20 between Kolkata and Gorakhpur (via Patna), 8 between Howrah and Anand Vihar (via Jhajha-Kiul-Gaya), 8 between Howrah and Khatipura (via Jhajha-Kiul-Gaya), 2 between Kolkata and New Jalpaiguri, and 8 between Sealdah and Puri.
Additionally, there will be 6 journeys between Asansol and Gorakhpur (via Patna), 8 between Malda Town and Anand Vihar (via Jhajha-Kiul-Gaya), 8 between Malda Town and Udhna (via Kiul-Gaya), and 8 between Malda and Mumbai (via Kiul-Patna).
These special services are expected to provide significant relief during the Holi rush, offering convenient travel options for pilgrims wishing to celebrate the festival at major religious sites.
The Eastern Railway will closely monitor passenger demand and is prepared to operate additional Holi special trains on specific routes if necessary.
