Siddhant Chaturvedi Opens Up About Language Barriers and Embarrassment

Mumbai, February 4: Actor Siddhant Chaturvedi and Mrunal Thakur are set to star in the romantic drama film “Do Diwane Shehar Mein.” Recently, Siddhant candidly discussed his roots in Uttar Pradesh, the Bhojpuri language, and the challenges posed by language barriers.

During the film’s launch event, he shared that he grew up in Ballia district, where Bhojpuri is still spoken at home. His mother continues to refer to Lord Shiva as “Shankar Bhagwan.” These cultural elements have not only shaped his manner of speaking but also influenced his worldview.

Siddhant revealed that reading the film’s script brought back old memories, making the character feel personal to him. He stated, “This has always been very personal for me. For the first 5-6 years after moving to Mumbai, my Hindi was broken. I mostly spoke in Bhojpuri.”

He further addressed the issue of language barriers, noting, “When you come to a big city like Mumbai and your Hindi isn’t fluent, it directly impacts your confidence.”

The actor also discussed the nuances of pronunciation, the difficulties of learning English, and the embarrassment that can arise from speaking a regional language. He emphasized, “This problem isn’t just for people from UP or Bihar; many from Rajasthan, Gujarat, the North-East, or Nepal face similar challenges.”

Siddhant pointed out that these small language barriers gradually diminish one’s self-confidence.

Directed by Ravi Udyawar, the trailer for “Do Diwane Shehar Mein” was released on Wednesday and has received a positive response from fans. It remains to be seen how the film will perform at the box office after its release on February 20. Alongside Siddhant and Mrunal, the film features Ila Arun, Joy Sengupta, Ayesha Raza, and Sandipa Dhar among others.
