Sandeep Dikshit Questions Kejriwals Impact on Delhi Politics

New Delhi, February 28: Senior Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit has responded to the acquittal of former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the liquor policy case.

In an interview with a news agency, Dikshit stated, “The release of Arvind Kejriwal yesterday clearly indicates a collusion between the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). We had anticipated this outcome. I made a similar statement this morning. Whether Kejriwal remains outside or not will not make a difference in Delhi. The BJP currently needs him to be used against Congress in the upcoming elections in Punjab, Uttarakhand, and other states.”

Dikshit expressed that he does not consider any of the involved parties innocent. He also refrained from claiming that the government influences the judiciary. “If the CBI had not prepared a case, what have they been doing for the past two years? I believe they were instructed to act this way, as we do not see this in other cases,” he added.

Regarding the bail granted to Uday Bhanu Chib, president of the Youth Congress, Dikshit remarked that it was not surprising. “What is surprising is that he was arrested at all. Protests occurred at the AI Summit; if the government dislikes dissent, that is their prerogative. However, for the past 60-70 years, not just Congress, but every party has protested in Indian democracy. There have been instances where protests were held in front of Manmohan Singh,” he noted.

He further stated, “It is a well-known practice that if a protest is deemed inappropriate, individuals are detained and taken to the police station, only to be released later. Nothing significant came out of the AI Summit. The Youth Congress protested, and the government seems to be meting out punishment at will. The allegations made are baseless. I hope that when the matter goes to court, the Youth Congress workers will receive relief.”
