Rajasthan Aims to Boost Stone Industry as Global Powerhouse

Jaipur, February 5: Rajasthan’s Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma announced on Thursday that the government is fully committed to transforming the state’s stone industry into the country’s largest asset. The sector boasts a rich heritage, global recognition, and immense growth potential.

The Chief Minister made these remarks during the inaugural session of India Stone Mart held at the Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Center.

He emphasized that Rajasthan’s stones have a unique identity recognized worldwide. From prestigious institutions to historic forts and palaces, Rajasthan’s stones have made an indelible mark. With government support, this industry is poised to reach new heights.

Calling for unity among entrepreneurs, the Chief Minister stated that India Stone Mart reflects the vision of a “New Rajasthan.” It has become a global platform showcasing the strength and potential of India’s natural stone industry. He congratulated C-DOS, RIICO, and Laghu Udyog Bharati for organizing the event.

Highlighting key features of the exhibition, the Chief Minister noted that for the first time, the India Stone Mart website has been launched in over 26 international languages. Additionally, a special mobile app and a larger exhibition area have been developed to enhance its global reach.

He remarked that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India is rapidly becoming a global manufacturing hub. Initiatives like ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ have instilled new confidence in industries. Indian granite, marble, and sandstone are renowned worldwide, positioning India not just as an exporter but also as a center for value addition and innovation. He referred to this as a “golden opportunity” for the stone industry.

The Chief Minister stated that the Rajasthan government has created a stable and investment-friendly environment for industries. The single-window clearance system, robust industrial infrastructure, improved logistics, and simplified processes have made it easier for entrepreneurs to start businesses.

He mentioned that during the ‘Rising Rajasthan Investment Summit,’ MoUs worth ₹35 lakh crore were signed, with projects worth ₹8 lakh crore already underway.

Focusing on Rajasthan’s mineral wealth, the Chief Minister highlighted that the state is home to 85 types of minerals. The marble from Makrana and Kishangarh, along with stones from Rajsamand, Jalore, Udaipur, Dungarpur, and Banswara, are globally acclaimed. Rajasthan’s centuries-old craftsmanship and world-renowned artisans are the backbone of this industry.

He added that the true strength of this sector lies in its skilled artisans and hardworking laborers. The government is committed to ensuring workers’ safety, respect, skill development, modern tools, better working conditions, and fair wages.

The Chief Minister noted that the lack of a clear industrial policy had led to the migration of industries and a decline in job opportunities. His government is working with transparency and fairness, determined to make Rajasthan a $350 billion economy by 2030.

Industry and Commerce Minister Statevardhan Rathore stated that under Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma’s leadership, the state government is fully committed to promoting the stone industry. investment-friendly policies, single-window clearance, and simplified processes are providing significant relief to entrepreneurs, strengthening Rajasthan’s stone industry on the global stage.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister honored Anil Chaudhary, Director of Shri Ram Mega Structures, and Mukesh Chandra Agarwal, Managing Director of Ever Shine Marbles, with Lifetime Achievement Awards for their outstanding contributions to the stone industry.

Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated India Stone Mart 2026 and inspected various exhibition stalls. The event was attended by Education Minister Madan Dilawar, Chief Secretary V. Srinivasan, All India Organization Secretary of Laghu Udyog Bharati Prakash Chand, Chairman of R.K. Marbles Ashok Patni, representatives from Iran and Turkey, and senior officials from Laghu Udyog Bharati, RIICO, and C-DOS.
