New Delhi, February 5: A heated exchange occurred in Parliament between Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu. During the debate, Gandhi remarked, “Don’t worry, you will return,” and labeled Bittu as a “traitor.” In response, Rajasthan Minister Jawahar Singh Bedham condemned Gandhi’s statement, asserting that it deserves widespread denunciation.
Bedham stated, “Upon watching the video from the Lok Sabha gate, I realized that a leader of a national party, Rahul Gandhi, referred to Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu as a ‘traitor.’ This reflects the Congress party‘s flawed mindset and poor understanding, which is evident across newspapers, electronic media, and social platforms.”
He further emphasized that Bittu hails from a patriotic community that has never bowed down to foreign invaders since India’s independence. “To call someone from such a community a ‘traitor’ is utterly disgraceful. Rahul Gandhi lacks restraint in his speech. He tarnishes India’s image abroad while conspiring domestically. It is time for him to clear the fog clouding his judgment. The people of India stand with Prime Minister Modi in the vision for a developed nation. Congress leaders should learn to follow the public,” Bedham added.
BJP MP Rabindra Narayan Behera criticized Gandhi’s conduct as entirely inappropriate, stating, “Despite being the Leader of the Opposition, he makes remarks to everyone from the Speaker to Prime Minister Modi without regard for parliamentary decorum. He refers to himself as the LOP of India, while the LOP exists within the Lok Sabha, not for the entire country.”
BJP MP Sandhya Rai also condemned the breach of decorum by the Leader of the Opposition, calling it highly objectionable. Today, all Dalit MPs from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha met with the Lok Sabha Speaker to demand action in this matter. “Those responsible should face strict consequences,” she asserted.
