Punjab Launches Operation Prahaar-2 to Capture Wanted Criminals

Chandigarh, February 8: Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav announced a focused 72-hour campaign, “Operation Prahaar-2,” aimed at apprehending wanted criminals.

Accompanying the DGP were Special DGP (Law and Order) Arpit Shukla, ADGP (Drug Task Force) Neelabh Kishore, and Intelligence Chief Sukhchain Singh Gill. The DGP informed the media that the initial phase of “Operation Prahaar” resulted in the arrest of 3,256 individuals and the recovery of 69 weapons within just 72 hours.

“Operation Prahaar-2” will commence on Monday and continue through Wednesday, with senior officials deployed for effective monitoring of the operation.

Sharing the results of the 20-day “Gangster Te War” campaign, he revealed that police teams conducted 17,603 raids across the state, leading to the arrest of 5,290 individuals, including gangsters and their associates, along with the recovery of 128 weapons.

Additionally, preventive action has been initiated against 2,973 individuals, while 5,413 others were released after verification and questioning. The police also apprehended 344 proclaimed offenders (POs).
