Punjab BJP Claims Modis Scheme Guarantees Rights for the Poor

Chandigarh, February 5: The acting president of Punjab BJP, Ashwani Kumar Sharma, stated on Wednesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has guaranteed the rights of the poor, laborers, and farmers through the Developed Bharat-G Ram Ji Scheme.

While addressing a rally in Kharar in support of the scheme, Sharma emphasized that the Modi Government focuses on the welfare of the poor, whereas the Punjab government only makes false claims.

He mentioned that the implementation of the G Ram Ji system has significantly reduced corruption, as wages will now be directly transferred to workers’ bank accounts. The Modi administration has made fundamental reforms in the MGNREGA scheme, including increasing the number of workdays to 125, guaranteeing payment within seven days, and providing interest on delayed payments. Additionally, there is a provision for unemployment benefits if workers do not find work within 15 days.

Sharma described these measures as historic steps aimed at providing social security to the poor. He accused the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress of turning the MGNREGA scheme into a hub of corruption for years. Despite numerous corruption cases, he claimed that no money has been recovered from the guilty, nor has anyone been punished.

The BJP leader highlighted that the central government has brought significant changes to the lives of the poor through schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Ujjwala Gas Scheme, Jal Jeevan Mission, Ayushman Bharat, and the free grain scheme. Today, every household has access to toilets, gas connections, and drinking water, which were once mere dreams.

He criticized the Mann government for betraying the public by shutting down the dal-atta scheme meant for the poor, while the central government continues to provide free grains under the Prime Minister’s food scheme.

Sharma asserted that the Punjab government is attempting to take credit for these initiatives, which he deemed incorrect.

Regarding law and order, Sharma pointed out the increasing incidents of gang violence, extortion, shootings, and drug abuse in Punjab, stating that the state is currently living in fear. He claimed that the Punjab government is effectively being run from Delhi, with the Chief Minister merely acting as a puppet.
