President Murmu Inaugurates Development Projects in Odisha

New Delhi, February 4: President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated several development projects in Rayagada, Odisha, on Wednesday. The event marked the opening of the Maharaja Shriram Chandra Bhanja Dev University IT campus. Additionally, she laid the foundation for an AYUSH hospital and Ayurvedic college, the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology campus, an archery center, urban beautification, drainage improvement projects, an auditorium and cultural center, a girls’ hostel, and a de-addiction center.

During her address, the President emphasized that the Indian government’s Purvodaya vision prioritizes the development of Odisha, particularly benefiting the Mayurbhanj district. She expressed confidence that these forward-looking projects and institutions would enhance the region and create new employment opportunities for the local population.

President Murmu highlighted the government’s special efforts for the economic development of tribal communities. She cited examples such as the Prime Minister’s Van Dhan Yojana, which provides a minimum support price (MSP) for over 90 minor forest products, and micro-loan schemes that offer loans to tribal self-help groups. The government is also working on improving health and education facilities. The Prime Minister-Janmana scheme has been implemented for the welfare of private groups, and electrification has been completed in tribal areas, along with the provision of 4G internet connectivity in remote regions. These initiatives are fostering overall development in tribal areas.

She stated that the upliftment of the poorest individuals can only be achieved through the development of tribal communities. The government is committed to ensuring that these communities benefit from all welfare and development schemes.

The President urged everyone to take advantage of these initiatives and to raise awareness among others. She emphasized that this would ensure local development, leading to the state’s growth and ultimately the nation’s progress. She reiterated that the goal of creating a ‘Developed India’ by 2047 can only be achieved through the collective efforts of the government and its citizens.
