Patna, February 7: The arrest of independent MP Pappu Yadav from the Purnia Lok Sabha seat has triggered strong reactions from his supporters. They have accused the Bihar police of acting out of Political Vendetta, questioning the timing and manner of his arrest.
Supporter Nitish Singh stated that whenever Yadav raises issues related to Bihar, he becomes a target. “Whenever Pappu Yadav speaks about Bihar, education, unemployment, or justice, this happens to him. When he repeatedly brought up the issue of the NEET candidate’s death in Parliament, the government took action against him. This has happened before,” Singh remarked.
Concerns about Yadav’s health were also raised, with Singh noting, “Doctors say his condition is not stable at the moment. About 8-10 doctors are currently treating him.”
Supporter Gautam Anand questioned the legality of the arrest, especially during an ongoing parliamentary session. He stated, “The parliamentary session is currently underway, yet a sitting MP was forcibly arrested at midnight. This is completely unacceptable and raises legal questions.”
Sujit Yadav emphasized that Pappu Yadav has always stood up for students and the poor, suggesting that he is being deliberately harassed to distract from real issues.
Naval Kishore Yadav claimed that democratic values are deteriorating in the state, stating, “Democracy in Bihar has completely collapsed. There is a reign of terror. Our hearts are broken today.”
Meanwhile, police officials asserted that the arrest was conducted in accordance with the law. City SP Bhanu Pratap Singh explained that the arrest was made in connection with a 1995 case, where a court had ordered property attachment. Yadav was taken to the hospital for a medical examination.
Pappu Yadav, also known as Rajesh Ranjan, was arrested late Friday night from his home amid high drama. Officials indicated that the action followed a property attachment warrant issued by the court due to his repeated absence during hearings.
This case is linked to a fraud dispute filed at the Gardanibagh police station in 1995. The complainant, Vinod Bihari Lal, alleged that Yadav deceitfully took over his property for his office. Lal claimed that his house was fraudulently rented and later used as Yadav’s office, a fact he alleged was concealed during the agreement.
