Bhubaneswar, February 7: The launch of the Economic Development Plan for the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack-Puri-Paradip Economic Region (BCPPER) has been welcomed by BJP MP Sambit Patra. During a media interaction, he described this initiative as a significant step towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India.
Sambit Patra expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Chandra Majhi, and particularly to the NITI Aayog for their efforts in implementing the Prime Minister’s vision. He noted that a comprehensive framework has been prepared by NITI Aayog to advance the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack-Puri-Paradip Economic Region. This area is expected to play a crucial role in building a developed India and achieving the goal of a developed Odisha by 2036. Currently, approximately 19% of the state’s GDP comes from this region, underscoring its economic significance.
The BJP MP stated that Chief Minister Mohan Chandra Majhi has a clear vision for this economic region to serve as Odisha’s growth engine. This project was formally inaugurated today, attended by NITI Aayog officials and MPs and MLAs from the four areas, marking the launch of this ambitious initiative.
Sambit Patra also thanked Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, highlighting that the recent central budget included provisions for the City Economic Module Region (CEMR) model, allocating ₹5,000 crores for each module. This budgetary arrangement will facilitate the overall development of the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack-Puri-Paradip Economic Region.
As the MP from Puri, Sambit Patra extended special thanks on behalf of himself and the people of Puri to Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Majhi. He mentioned that Prime Minister Modi has envisioned significant developments around the Jagannath Temple, including water sports, beach front development, and the fisheries sector. This project is expected to provide new opportunities for economic growth, tourism, and employment, elevating not just Puri but the entire state of Odisha, for which the people of Puri express their gratitude to Prime Minister Modi.
