Jaipur, February 6: Just as the shocking murder of Raja Raghuvanshi was still fresh in people’s minds, another chilling case has emerged from Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. This time, the murder did not occur during a tourist trip but on a deserted village road.
A newlywed woman has allegedly conspired with her lover to murder her husband just three months after their wedding. The police have taken the accused wife into custody.
According to investigators, the woman planned the murder with her boyfriend and his accomplices. She lured her husband to a secluded road, where he was brutally killed.
Police reports indicate that Anjali (23) had been in a relationship with her boyfriend, Sanjay alias Sanju (25), for a long time. Her family was aware of this relationship but forced her to marry Ashish Kumar (27) against her wishes on October 30, 2022.
Ashish had recently started working as a teacher at a private school and was trying to adjust to married life. However, he was unaware that a dangerous plot had already been devised against him.
Similar to the infamous Indore honeymoon case, where trust became a weapon, Anjali also exploited this trust to execute her plan.
After the wedding, she requested Ashish’s permission to continue her studies in Sri Ganganagar, hoping to stay close to her lover. However, her request was denied.
Sixteen days before the murder, Anjali secretly met Sanjay at her parents’ home, where they devised the complete plan to kill Ashish.
On the night of January 30, Anjali persuaded Ashish to go for a walk after dinner. Near a village in the Rawla police station area, Sanjay and his two accomplices, Rohit alias Rocky (20) and Badal alias Siddharth (20), were already hiding in the bushes.
At Anjali’s signal, they attacked Ashish with a wooden stick, striking him multiple times on the head. When he did not die from the head injuries, the assailants strangled him with a muffler. The post-mortem report confirmed severe head injuries and death by asphyxiation.
To mislead the investigation, Anjali allegedly handed over Ashish’s mobile phone and her earrings to the assailants, attempting to present the murder as a robbery or accident.
Later, Anjali was found unconscious near the deceased. Ashish was declared dead at the Rawla Community Health Center.
Superintendent of Police Amrita Duhan confirmed that Anjali, her boyfriend Sanjay, and the two accomplices have been arrested. The three male suspects are currently in police custody for five days, while Anjali has been remanded for two days. Further investigations are ongoing.
