Mumbai, February 9: The Mumbai Police have launched a significant crackdown on illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators. The Dindoshi police arrested a young man involved in a gang that produced fake ration cards. Authorities seized 350 counterfeit ration cards along with a large number of forged documents and electronic devices from the suspect’s possession.
The arrested individual has been identified as Sujal Dayal, 21, a resident of Virar. The Dindoshi police received information that he was preparing fake documents for individuals. Following this tip-off, the police raided his home. During the search, they discovered 350 fake ration cards that closely resembled authentic ones. These cards could be used for identification and to access various government benefits. Additionally, the police confiscated printers, laptops, and other electronic equipment from the site.
According to the Dindoshi police, the seized ration cards contained addresses from areas such as Vasai, Virar, Mira-Bhayander, Nalasopara, Dahisar, Borivali, Malad, and Kandivali. This raises concerns that the network may be operating on a much larger scale.
During police interrogation, the suspect revealed that his father previously engaged in the production of fake ration cards. After his father’s death, Sujal took over the business and gradually expanded its reach. Authorities suspect that many foreign infiltrators, particularly those living illegally, have obtained fake ration cards from him to establish their identities.
After filing the case, the Dindoshi police presented the suspect in court, where he was remanded to police custody until February 12.
Currently, the police are investigating who placed orders for the fake ration cards, how many cards Sujal has produced, and who else is involved in this extensive network. The Mumbai Police stated that a thorough investigation is ongoing, and further arrests related to this gang may occur in the coming days.
