Earlier, he posted on the social media platform ‘X’, saying, “Today, I am embarking on an official visit to Malaysia at the invitation of my friend Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. There has been continuous progress in the historic ties between India and Malaysia in recent years. I look forward to discussions with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to strengthen our comprehensive strategic partnership. Our goals include deepening defense and security relations, enhancing economic and innovation partnerships, and expanding our cooperation into new areas.”

He added, “I am also eager to meet the Indian community in Malaysia. With a population of nearly three million, this community is one of the largest Indian diasporas in the world. Their significant contributions to Malaysia’s progress and their role as a bridge between our two countries provide a strong foundation for our historic friendship.”

Prime Minister Modi’s official visit to Malaysia on February 7 and 8 will involve discussions on several important issues with the Malaysian Prime Minister. This marks his third visit to Malaysia and the first since the bilateral relations were elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership in August 2024.
