Modi Criticizes Congress in Rajya Sabha, Defends Achievements

New Delhi, February 6: Prime Minister Modi targeted the Congress party in the Rajya Sabha, questioning their values and upbringing. He noted that for nearly 25 years, there has not been a single session of Parliament without him being insulted. “Even when I wasn’t a member of Parliament, I faced insults during every session,” he stated.

Modi humorously remarked on a question about his health, saying, “I consume two kilograms of insults daily.” He expressed concern over why there is a desire to “dig my grave,” attributing it to deep-seated hatred within the opposition.

He highlighted significant achievements, such as the abrogation of Article 370, which he believes has led to attempts to undermine him. Modi pointed out that the North East, once plagued by violence and terrorism, is now on a path of development, which has also drawn ire from his opponents. He emphasized that the government has taken decisive action against Pakistani terrorists and Maoist threats, further fueling the opposition’s animosity.

The Prime Minister criticized former Prime Minister Nehru for the Indus Water Treaty, stating that they have suspended it, which has led to further attacks on his leadership. He suggested that Congress struggles to accept his political success and longevity in power.

Modi accused the Congress party of treating the Prime Minister’s position as a family inheritance, lacking faith in the Constitution and democracy. He described the ongoing hostility as a result of the “fire within the shop of love,” referring to their calls for his political demise.

He reminded Congress that the nation had invested its future in them, but they misled the public with empty promises of eradicating poverty. He asserted that no Prime Minister from Congress has genuinely addressed poverty in their speeches from the Red Fort, labeling their efforts as mere slogans.

In contrast, Modi claimed his government has worked tirelessly for the poor, empowering them and acknowledging their resilience. “I salute the poor of my country. They have understood and embraced our policies, striving to improve their circumstances,” he stated. He celebrated the success of 25 crore citizens who have overcome poverty, expressing pride in their achievements and hope for the future.
