Modi Concludes Successful Visit to Malaysia, Strengthening Ties

Kuala Lumpur, February 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has departed for India after completing a two-day official visit to Malaysia. The Ministry of External Affairs described the trip as memorable. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that Modi’s visit yielded significant outcomes, greatly enhancing the relationship between the two nations.

In a post on X, Jaiswal remarked, “A memorable journey has concluded! After a successful visit to Malaysia, filled with warmth and hospitality, and based on our close cultural ties, PM Narendra Modi has left for India. This trip has resulted in important outcomes that will strengthen India-Malaysia relations.”

Earlier in the day, PM Modi engaged in discussions with CEOs from both India and Malaysia. He noted in a post that the CEO Forum has opened new avenues for trade and investment between the two countries.

On Sunday, PM Modi met with Indian-origin leaders in Malaysia, including ministers and MPs, praising their achievements in public life. He emphasized the significance of this meeting, stating, “I had a wonderful interaction with distinguished ministers and senators, including PIO leaders. Their deep emotional connection to India was evident. Their accomplishments in public life are a matter of great pride for all.”

PM Modi also met with veteran Jayaraj Raja Rao of the Azad Hind Fauj, also known as the Indian National Army (INA), highlighting the historical contributions and legacy of this force among Indian migrants in Southeast Asia.

Sharing a photo with Jayaraj Raja Rao on X, he commemorated the legacy of the INA and its founder, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. He wrote, “Meeting INA veteran Jayaraj Raja Rao was very special. His life is filled with immense courage and sacrifice. Listening to his experiences was truly inspiring. We will always be indebted to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and the brave men and women of the INA, whose valor helped shape India’s destiny.”

Earlier that day, PM Modi held a meeting with his Malaysian counterpart Anwar Ibrahim at his official residence, Seri Perdana.

Both leaders reviewed developmental cooperation in various sectors, including infrastructure, energy, and biotechnology, and agreed to strengthen collaboration in security, defense technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), and semiconductors.

PM Modi highlighted the importance of this meeting in a post, stating, “This morning, I had a wonderful meeting with PM Anwar Ibrahim at Seri Perdana. India and Malaysia are maritime neighbors with a long-standing friendship. We reviewed developmental cooperation in trade, infrastructure, energy, IT, biotechnology, and other sectors. We also agreed to enhance cooperation in security, defense, AI, digital technology, and semiconductors.”

He further added, “At the heart of India-Malaysia friendship are the mutual ties between our people. The Social Security Agreement, free e-visas for tourism, and the introduction of UPI in Malaysia will bring our people closer. We are also working to enhance university exchanges and create skill development opportunities for our youth.”

Upon arriving in Kuala Lumpur for his two-day visit on Saturday, PM Modi received a warm welcome from his Malaysian counterpart Ibrahim.
