Media Reflects Society, Journalists Must Adapt in Digital Era: Tripura CM

Agartala, February 15: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha emphasized on Saturday that media serves as a mirror of society. He highlighted the necessity for journalists to stay updated in this era of artificial intelligence (AI), the internet, and globalization.

Saha stated that we are currently in the age of AI and the internet, and globalization is here to stay. Therefore, journalists must keep themselves informed. News should be presented with honesty and integrity, reflecting the changing times.

Speaking at the inauguration of the two-day biennial state conference and journalists’ workshop organized by the Tripura Working Journalists Association, Saha noted that this year’s workshop theme is “Embrace Change.”

Congratulating the representatives, he mentioned that the current state government is media-friendly and stressed the importance of professional training in journalism. He remarked that such training programs are crucial, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi has repeatedly emphasized the need for enhancing efficiency across all sectors.

Highlighting the role of media in a democratic system, Saha stated that media is considered the fourth pillar of democracy. He remarked that the pen is mightier than the sword, asserting that Tripura’s journalists are as capable as those from other states. Within its limits, the government has initiated several welfare measures for journalists.

Saha also mentioned that the state government receives daily updates on law and order and other issues from various news agencies, district magistrates, sub-divisional magistrates, block administrations, and grassroots officials.

He added that a monitoring system has been established to ensure proper coordination.
