Mumbai, February 17: The Mumbai Crime Branch has made a significant breakthrough in the shooting incident at Bollywood director Rohit Shetty’s residence in Juhu. Investigations have revealed that the attack was orchestrated by Shubham Lonkar, the Maharashtra head of the Bishnoi gang, along with his brother, Praveen Lonkar.
Notably, Praveen Lonkar is currently incarcerated in connection with the Baba Siddiqui murder case. Despite being in jail, he allegedly facilitated the attack on Rohit Shetty by providing weapons and financial support.
Authorities suspect that Praveen Lonkar managed to establish a network for this crime while still behind bars. According to police, 12 suspects, including the main shooter, have been arrested from Pune, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. Praveen Lonkar remains in judicial custody and is expected to be formally taken into police custody for further questioning soon.
The police have indicated that the motorcycle, pistol, and funds used in the attack were arranged under Praveen Lonkar’s direction. A pressing question remains: how did Praveen manage these operations while in jail? Who were his contacts, and what methods were used for communication?
A senior police officer stated that 12 teams from the Crime Branch are actively investigating this case. Once Praveen Lonkar is in custody, more details about the conspiracy and the Bishnoi Gang’s future plans are expected to emerge.
