
Bhopal, February 4: The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, has made a significant decision regarding the displaced families of the Sardar Sarovar Project. The Cabinet has approved free registration for residential plots allocated to these families.
During a meeting held on Tuesday, the Cabinet decided that the registration fee and stamp duty, as per the standard operating procedure (SOP), will be reimbursed by the Narmada Valley Development Authority. This initiative will benefit over 25,600 families and impose a financial burden of ₹600 crores on the state government.
Additionally, the Cabinet sanctioned ₹620.65 crores for two irrigation projects in the Maihar and Katni districts. The approval includes ₹53.73 crores for the Maihar and Katni micro-pressure irrigation project, which will provide irrigation facilities across 3,500 hectares, benefiting 2,810 farmers from nine villages in these districts.
Furthermore, the Katni district’s Barhi micro-lift irrigation project has been approved with a budget of ₹566.92 crores. This project will benefit 11,500 farmers from 27 villages in the Barhi and Vijayraghavgarh tehsils, facilitating irrigation over an area of 20,000 hectares.
The Cabinet also approved over ₹15,009 crores for the continuity of ten schemes across six departments from 2026-27 to 2030-31. This includes ₹115.06 crores for eight schemes funded by the Finance Department, ₹5,000 crores for the Chief Minister’s Welfare Scheme (Sambal 2.0) by the Labor Department, and ₹6,472.18 crores for various animal husbandry and dairy initiatives.
Moreover, ₹24.70 crores were allocated for the Welfare Fund for Adolescents and assistance for victims of domestic violence, along with ₹21 crores for the Minority Self-Employment Scheme. The Cabinet also approved the dissolution of the Madhya Pradesh State Social Welfare Board, merging its employees into the Women and Child Development Department.
