Mumbai, February 4: In the film and fashion industries, fitness and appearance hold significant importance. As actresses age, the pressure to maintain a certain look intensifies. However, some, like actress Lisa Ray, choose to live life on their own terms. At 50, she has redefined the concept of a “beach body,” linking it to self-acceptance, freedom, and self-respect.
On Wednesday, Lisa shared several beach photos on Instagram. In her caption, she reflected, “There was a time when looking beautiful at the beach meant adhering to a specific imageāred swimsuit, red lipstick, and the pressure to look perfect at all costs. The 1991 Gladrags cover solidified that image in people’s minds and shaped my career. But today, what matters most is how I feel about myself.”
She continued, “My body has changed over time, I’ve faced life’s ups and downs, battled illnesses, and rebuilt myself. Now, I find more peace in accepting myself than seeking approval from others. Stepping outside those impossible beauty standards brings me true relief. These standards were created for women, making them hard to achieve.”
Lisa also mentioned Hollywood actress Pamela Anderson, stating, “Pamela was once seen as the ultimate fantasy in a red swimsuit. But today, she has broken that image and is crafting her own identity.”
Lisa expressed, “I have no issues with glamour or makeup. Getting ready for shoots, reels, and public events is fun. The beach is where I want to be completely natural.”
She added, “In the 1990s, sunscreen wasn’t widely used. I often got severely sunburned, and the effects are visible on my skin today. But this is not my weakness; it’s all part of my life, and I am completely at ease with it.”
