Thiruvananthapuram, February 6: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stated on Wednesday that students’ innovative ideas will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the state. He emphasized the need to connect education with efforts to address real-life social challenges.
While inaugurating the ‘CM-YIP Meet,’ the Chief Minister expressed his delight in witnessing students recognize societal needs at a young age and work on practical solutions.
From challenges faced at home to issues related to travel and health, students are engaging with various concerns, which boosts their confidence.
He noted that such ideas strongly support the vision of building a new Kerala. During his interaction with students, Vijayan also discussed opportunities for higher education abroad.
To protect students wishing to study overseas from fraud, a new system led by NORKA has been introduced. An app has been developed to assist students in assessing the credibility and standards of foreign educational institutions.
The Chief Minister affirmed the state government’s commitment to elevating Kerala’s higher Education sector to global standards, highlighting that the state’s universities are rapidly gaining national recognition.
He encouraged students to aim not just to find jobs but to become job creators through startups.
Emphasizing Kerala’s investment climate, Vijayan mentioned that the state’s peaceful and stable social environment continues to attract investors. He referenced a recent meeting with representatives from a major industrial group that proposed an investment of ₹3 lakh crore.
When asked why they chose Kerala, the group cited the state’s peace and stability. Vijayan stated that maintaining this environment is one of Kerala’s greatest strengths.
He also shared his personal experiences of overcoming difficulties to complete his school and college education.
As part of the program, an exhibition showcasing prototypes developed by over 300 YIP-winning students was held, and certificates were distributed.
Led by K-DISC, the Young Innovators Program has become one of the largest innovation initiatives globally, with over 1.2 million students participating. This scheme provides technical and financial support to individuals aged 13 to 37 to transform ideas into working prototypes.
