Indias Strong T20 Record Against Zimbabwe Ahead of World Cup Clash

New Delhi, February 24: India is set to face Zimbabwe in the ‘Super-8’ match of the T20 World Cup 2026 on February 26. Although India suffered a heavy defeat in their first Super-8 match of the tournament, their historical performance against Zimbabwe in T20 matches has been impressive.

To date, India and Zimbabwe have played a total of 13 T20 matches, with India winning 10 and Zimbabwe securing victory in just 3. The two teams have met only once in the T20 World Cup, a match that India won. All bilateral series matches between the two nations have taken place in Harare, Zimbabwe.

The first T20 match between India and Zimbabwe was held on June 12, 2010, where India triumphed by 6 wickets. India completed a clean sweep by winning the second and final match of the series on June 13 by 7 wickets.

In 2015, India played a two-match T20 series against Zimbabwe, which ended in a 1-1 draw. In June 2016, a three-match series was contested, with Zimbabwe winning the first match by a narrow margin of 2 runs. However, India bounced back to win the next two matches, claiming the series 2-1.

The two teams faced off again in the T20 World Cup 2022, where India set a score of 186/5 and restricted Zimbabwe to just 115 runs in a match held in Melbourne.

In July 2024, India played a five-match T20 series against Zimbabwe. The series began with a surprising 13-run victory for Zimbabwe in the first match. However, India quickly retaliated, winning the second match by 100 runs. India secured the third match by 23 runs and achieved a remarkable 10-wicket victory in the fourth match, taking an unbeatable lead. They concluded the series with a 42-run win in the final match, finishing with a 4-1 series victory.
