Malda, February 7: The Eastern Railway‘s Malda division has initiated a unique campaign to strengthen Indian Railways‘ Digital India mission and provide modern, convenient services to passengers. On Saturday, a special awareness drive was held at Malda Town Railway Station, featuring a street play to promote the ‘Railvan’ app. The primary aim of the event was to encourage passengers to utilize railway services through a single digital platform.
Under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Manish Kumar Gupta and the supervision of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Kartik Singh, the event took place on the station’s platform and concourse area. The Malda division’s Scout and Guide team performed a street play that effectively showcased the importance of digital services in an engaging and simple manner. Through the play, passengers were introduced to the key features of the Railvan App, and assistance was provided for downloading, registering, and using the app practically.
The street play highlighted various services available through the Railvan app, including booking reserved and unreserved tickets, live train tracking, PNR status, coach position, digital platform tickets, rail assistance, refund requests, and travel feedback. Attractive offers were emphasized, such as a 3% discount on unreserved tickets for digital payments and a 3% bonus on R-wallet recharges. The benefits of cashless transactions, time savings, and environmental protection were also underscored.
Commercial department staff engaged directly with passengers, leading many to download the app and register on the spot. Passengers praised the interactive and entertaining awareness campaign, noting that the play helped them understand the app’s utility and that they would now book tickets digitally.
Officials from the Malda division stated that this campaign aims to encourage passengers to adopt safe digital practices and increase the use of passenger-centric modern services. The division plans to continue similar awareness programs at various stations and public places in the future, aiming to connect more people with the ‘Railvan’ app and make rail travel easier, faster, and more environmentally friendly.
This initiative marks a significant step towards achieving the goals of Digital India through the railway sector.
