Indian Hotels Company Signs Welcomhotel in Vrindavan, Strengthens Uttar Pradesh Footprint

Mumbai, May 24, 2025Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), the hospitality arm of the Tata Group, saw a modest uptick in its stock price following the announcement of a new property in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh. The company has signed a Welcomhotel with KD Greens, Mathura, marking the debut of the Welcomhotel brand in the revered pilgrimage town.

The move reinforces IHCL’s strategic presence in Uttar Pradesh, bringing the total number of operational hotels under the ITC Hotels portfolio in the state to six, with 479 keys, and additional properties in the pipeline. The newly signed hotel, ‘Welcomhotel by ITC Hotels Vrindavan,’ will offer 120 guest rooms and is set to be located on the Delhi-Agra NH-19 highway, approximately 90 kilometers from the upcoming Noida International Airport.

Welcomhotel Taps Into Religious Tourism

Vrindavan, a globally recognized center of spiritual tourism associated with Lord Krishna, sees millions of domestic and international visitors annually. The new Welcomhotel is expected to cater to this influx by providing high-end hospitality in a city that has seen growing demand for quality accommodations.

IHCL’s partnership with KD Greens reflects a broader strategy to capitalize on the religious and heritage travel segment, which has become an increasingly important focus area in India’s domestic tourism landscape.

Positive Market Response

On the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Indian Hotels Company shares traded at ₹771.10, up by ₹1.00 or 0.13% from its previous close. The scrip opened at ₹773.35 and touched an intraday high of ₹775.90 and a low of ₹767.15. Over 68,000 shares were traded in the session.

IHCL’s 52-week high stands at ₹894.15, recorded on December 30, 2024, and the 52-week low is ₹507.45, noted on June 4, 2024. The company’s current market capitalization is ₹1,09,903.20 crore.

Promoter holding in the company is at 38.12%, while institutional and non-institutional investors hold 46.14% and 15.75% respectively.
