New Delhi, February 4: BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj has asserted that the India-U.S. trade deal will significantly enhance the ‘Make in India’ initiative. This development is expected to benefit people in both India and the United States.
During a media interaction in New Delhi, Swaraj highlighted that in the past eight months, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has signed several major trade agreements with various countries, including New Zealand. Recently, a deal referred to as the ‘mother of all trade deals’ was signed, covering a quarter of the global GDP. Modi has been diligently working to finalize these agreements to secure a prosperous economic future for India.
Swaraj praised Modi’s tireless efforts, noting that during a recent conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, a new deal was established that reduced tariffs on India to 18%. This reduction is expected to provide a substantial boost to India’s manufacturing sector, supply chains, and the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
She emphasized that access to American technology will now be even easier. The collaboration between the two largest democracies marks the beginning of a golden chapter in economic history. Swaraj expressed heartfelt gratitude to both the Indian and American people.
Furthermore, she stated that the announcements made following the discussions between Modi and Trump reinforce India’s global role and the mature, balanced diplomacy adopted under Modi’s leadership. The deepening trade and reliable technological cooperation between India and the U.S. will foster job creation, economic growth, and innovation, strengthening the ‘Make in India’ initiative and enhancing the global competitiveness of Indian industries, ultimately benefiting the citizens of India.
