New Delhi, February 7: The national spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Sudhanshu Trivedi, held a press conference on Saturday to clarify the government’s stance on the India-U.S. trade agreement. He stated that the framework of this agreement has now been presented by Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, leaving no room for confusion or doubt.
Sudhanshu Trivedi emphasized that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the Indian government has diligently protected the country’s interests, particularly in the agriculture and dairy sectors.
In straightforward terms, Trivedi explained that sectors safeguarded under this trade agreement will not be affected by foreign imports. This includes a comprehensive list of essential agricultural products such as wheat, rice, sugar, pulses, and millets. He asserted that it is clear the Indian government has firmly safeguarded the interests of farmers, as well as those involved in the dairy BUSINESS.
The BJP spokesperson noted that this trade agreement opens the doors of the world’s largest economy for small and medium-sized enterprises in India. He described it as a significant opportunity for the country, allowing Indian entrepreneurs to establish their presence in the global market. Sudhanshu Trivedi expressed gratitude on behalf of the BJP to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this achievement, stating that the agreement brings favorable opportunities for the entire nation.
Trivedi further mentioned that this sixth trade agreement with the U.S. marks an important milestone for India. He indicated that it demonstrates the eagerness of all major developed economies to engage in trade with India in recent months. Under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, India is not only successfully protecting the interests of its workers, farmers, and dairy entrepreneurs but is also advancing towards economic growth and new global leadership.
