Patna, February 6: India delivered an outstanding performance in the Under-19 World Cup 2026 final, setting a daunting target of 412 runs for England. Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored an impressive 175 runs off 80 balls, hitting 15 fours and 15 sixes. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar congratulated Suryavanshi for his remarkable achievement.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, CM Nitish Kumar highlighted Suryavanshi’s stellar performance in the ongoing match against England. He noted that the Bihar cricketer has become a new hope for Indian cricket through his hard work and talent.
Kumar expressed his wishes for Suryavanshi to set new records for the Indian team and bring glory to the nation.
Earlier, the Chief Minister honored Anu Kumari, a player from the victorious Indian team in the first Blind Women’s T20 World Cup 2025, by presenting her with a check and a shawl at the Sankalp Hall in Patna.
In the match, Indian captain Ayush Mhatre won the toss and opted to bat first at the Harare Sports Club. The team lost Aaron George (9) early at a score of 20. Suryavanshi then partnered with captain Mhatre to add 142 runs for the second wicket off 90 balls, bringing the team to a total of 162.
Mhatre scored 53 runs off 51 balls, including 2 sixes and 7 fours, before getting out. Following this, Suryavanshi formed a rapid partnership of 89 runs with Vedant Trivedi in just 39 balls, propelling India’s score forward. Suryavanshi was eventually dismissed after his explosive innings of 175 runs.
Vedant then added 51 runs with Vihan Malhotra for the fourth wicket, pushing the team’s score past 300. India lost 5 wickets for 308 runs. Abhijnaan Kundu then partnered with R.S. Ambrish to add 51 runs. Kundu scored 40 runs off 31 balls, while Ambrish contributed 18 runs. In the final overs, Kanishk Chauhan scored an unbeaten 37 runs off 20 balls, helping India reach a total of 411/9.
From the English side, James Minto took the most wickets, claiming 3, while Sebastian Morgan and Alex Green each took 2 wickets. One wicket was taken by Manny Lamsden.
