Harare, February 7: India triumphed over England by 100 runs in the final of the U19 World Cup 2026, held at Harare Sports Club on Friday. This victory marks India’s sixth World Championship title. Key to this success was opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who scored an impressive 175 runs. After lifting the trophy, Suryavanshi shared that the team had been working hard for the past 7-8 months to achieve this goal.
In the final match, Suryavanshi shattered several records with his 175 runs off 80 balls, which included 15 fours and as many sixes. For his outstanding performance, he was awarded both ‘Player of the Match’ and ‘Player of the Series‘.
Reflecting on the World Cup win, Suryavanshi expressed, “I cannot put my emotions into words. The entire team has worked hard over the past 7-8 months, and our support staff has been with us for a long time, ensuring we stay fit. I dedicate this award to them.”
He added, “We didn’t feel too much pressure. We just focused on playing our natural game, following the process that worked well in the tournament. Our preparation has been consistent not just during the Asia Cup, but over the last 8-9 months, and only the players know how much effort we put in. I trusted my skills to contribute in big matches, and that’s what happened today.”
In the match at Harare Sports Club, India scored 411 runs while losing 9 wickets. In response, England was bowled out for 311 runs in 40.2 overs. Caleb Faulkner was the standout performer for England, scoring 115 runs, but his efforts were not enough to avert a disappointing defeat.
