Improved Air Quality in NCR Due to Strong Winds

Noida, February 9: The recent strong winds in the National Capital Region (NCR) have significantly impacted air quality. The increased wind speed has dispersed pollutant particles, leading to a notable improvement in the Air Quality Index (AQI).

In many areas of Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad, the AQI has reached the orange and yellow zones, indicating a welcome change compared to previous weeks. In Delhi, several key areas still report AQI levels in the orange zone. Anand Vihar recorded an AQI of 289, while Ashok Vihar showed 243 and Bawana 259. Rohini and R.K. Puram both recorded an AQI of 260. Other areas like Shadipur reported 288, Wazirpur 254, and Vivek Vihar 230.

However, some regions have shown relatively better conditions. Ayanagar recorded an AQI of 168, Burari Crossing 124, and Sri Aurobindo Marg 129, all falling within the yellow zone. Chandni Chowk recorded an AQI of 193, and CRRI Mathura Road noted 189. Noida has also seen improvements in air quality, with Sector 125 recording an AQI of 237 and Sector 62 at 154, which is in the yellow zone. Sector 1 recorded 192, while Sector 116 noted 195.

This indicates that despite industrial and traffic pressures, the strong winds have helped control pollution levels significantly. Ghaziabad has also improved, with Indirapuram recording an AQI of 202 and Vasundhara at 229. However, Loni reported a higher AQI of 295.

According to the meteorological department, temperature changes are expected in the coming days. On February 9, the maximum temperature was recorded at 24 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 9 degrees, accompanied by light fog. The forecast for February 10 predicts a maximum of 25 degrees and a minimum of 10 degrees, with persistent fog. February 11 may also see a maximum of 25 degrees and a minimum of 12 degrees.

The meteorological department notes that the minimum temperature is expected to gradually rise. Experts suggest that if the wind speed remains consistent over the next few days, further improvements in air quality may occur.
