Hindustan Zinc Concludes Shiksha Sambal Summer Camp, Empowering Over 1,500 Rural Students in Rajasthan

Udaipur, June 20, 2025: Hindustan Zinc Limited (NSE: HINDZINC), the world’s largest integrated zinc producer, has successfully concluded its highly impactful Shiksha Sambal Summer Camp 2025, benefiting more than 1,500 students from 72 government schools across rural Rajasthan.

Hindustan Zinc

Organized under Hindustan Zinc’s flagship Shiksha Sambal program, in partnership with Vidya Bhawan Society, the summer camp provided an enriching blend of academics, skill development, sports, and cultural experiences — helping bridge learning gaps and foster holistic growth for underserved students.

Over the years, Rajasthan’s Class 10 pass rate has surged from just 45% in 2007 to an impressive 93.6% in 2025 — with initiatives like Shiksha Sambal playing a pivotal role in this educational transformation.

Empowering First-Generation Learners

The program focuses on empowering first-generation learners, many of whom face financial and social challenges that often interrupt their education. The 2025 edition reached students across Udaipur, Rajsamand, Chittorgarh, Ajmer, and Agucha, providing vital academic support and personal development during their school break.

At the closing ceremony, held at Kumbha Sabhagar, Pratap Gaurav Kendra, students proudly showcased their projects and performances. The event was attended by Anupam Nidhi, Head CSR – Vedanta & Hindustan Zinc, along with dignitaries from Vidya Bhawan Society and other community stakeholders.

“Investing in India’s Future”

Speaking on the initiative, Arun Misra, CEO of Hindustan Zinc, remarked:
“At Hindustan Zinc, we believe education is a long-term investment in the country’s future. Shiksha Sambal is about more than academics — it nurtures curiosity, confidence, and character. Every child deserves quality education, regardless of geography or background.”

Residential & Non-Residential Camps

The 2025 camp included over 300 residential students at Vidya Bhawan School, Udaipur, and nearly 1,200 students at non-residential camps in Agucha, Chittorgarh, Dariba, Debari, Zawar, and Kayad.

One participant, Manasvi, shared:
“This camp gave us an environment we rarely experience at home. Studying together, learning from new teachers, and participating in activities made us more confident.”

Volunteer-Driven Learning

A team of dedicated project teachers and over 90 volunteers from Gargi College, IISER Mohali, IISER Pune, and Delhi University helped deliver the camp. Hindustan Zinc employees also volunteered actively, mentoring children across the company’s operational areas.

Another student, Asha from Bhilwara, said:
“I used to struggle with science. Now, I feel confident — I want to become an engineer and help students in my village the way I was supported through Shiksha Sambal.”

Ongoing Commitment to Education

Hindustan Zinc’s long-term commitment to education was further strengthened this year through a ₹36-crore MoU with the Rajasthan Department of Education, aimed at accelerating educational outcomes in the state over five years.

In recognition of its efforts, Hindustan Zinc received six Bhamashah Awards under the Shiksha Vibhushan category — Rajasthan’s highest honor for contributions to education.

The company also runs Unchi Udaan, supporting IIT aspirants from low-income backgrounds, and Jeevan Tarang, an initiative for children with hearing and speech disabilities.

Driving Holistic Social Impact

Beyond education, Hindustan Zinc spearheads initiatives in women’s livelihoods, farmer empowerment, healthcare, water conservation, and sanitation, reaching over 2.3 million people in 2,300+ villages across Rajasthan.

Ranked among India’s top 10 socially responsible corporates, Hindustan Zinc continues to drive inclusive, sustainable development — building a resilient, self-reliant Rajasthan rooted in innovation and environmental responsibility.
