Gandhinagar, March 2: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Gujarat has initiated various projects to equip its cities with modern amenities. The Gujarat Urban Development Mission (GUDM) is enhancing the quality of life for citizens through improved infrastructure and organization in both major cities and municipal areas across the state.
In recognition of these urban development efforts, the India Water Foundation (IWF) has announced that GUDM will receive the ‘Best Community Impact Project Award’ for the Integrated Command and Control Center established to oversee sewer network cleaning in 156 municipalities in Gujarat.
Guided by the state’s Minister for Urban Development and Urban Housing, Kanubhai Desai, the state has developed a state-of-the-art Integrated Command and Control Center. This facility utilizes technology to strengthen the management of sewer networks in municipalities, leading to improved maintenance and the conservation of millions of liters of water through effective water reuse. The integration of technology has also enhanced monitoring capabilities, aligning with the vision of sustainable urban development.
In light of these achievements, the jury has awarded GUDM the Best Community Impact Project Award. The award will be presented during the Water Transversality Global Awards and Conclave 2026, organized by the India Water Foundation on March 6 and 7 in New Delhi.
