Grand Preparations for Mahashivratri at Kashi Vishwanath Temple

Varanasi, February 6: The auspicious festival of Mahashivratri will be celebrated on February 15 this year. In anticipation, grand preparations are underway at the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple, located in the holy city of Kashi. The temple administration has made extensive arrangements to ensure the convenience and safety of devotees.

To facilitate easy access for pilgrims, zigzag barricading has been implemented along with a viewing arrangement for the processions. Considering the expected large crowds, amenities such as ORS, glucose-infused water, fans, and coolers will also be provided. However, there will be a complete ban on touch and protocol darshan during Mahashivratri.

It is reported that the festival holds special significance for the residents of Kashi. On this day, locals participate in the grand procession to pay their respects to Baba Vishwanath.

According to estimates from the administration, over one million devotees are expected to visit Kashi for darshan. The temple will open its doors to pilgrims starting at 2 AM on February 15 and will remain open continuously until the night of February 16, coinciding with the Shayan Aarti. This extended access is anticipated to greatly benefit devotees wishing to have darshan of Baba Vishwanath.

The Chief Executive Officer of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Vishvabhushan Mishra, stated that security measures for the devotees are being strictly implemented. All protocols are being followed. The Mangala Aarti will commence at 2:15 AM on the 15th, and darshan will continue until the Shayan Aarti the following day.

He also mentioned that Mahashivratri is a major festival, attracting a large number of devotees. No special programs will be organized by the temple during this time.

Additionally, devotees are requested not to bring pens, bags, digital watches, mobile phones, tobacco, polythene, or plastic water bottles while visiting during Mahashivratri.
