Mau, February 8: In a significant incident in Mau district, Uttar Pradesh, a suspect was arrested for impersonating another candidate during the Central teacher eligibility test (CTET).
According to reports, the Kotwali Nagar police apprehended a solver caught red-handed at the examination center. This incident has raised concerns about the security and transparency of the examination process, highlighting the administration’s proactive measures.
The case unfolded at Amrit Public School in Shahadatpura, where the first shift of the CTET was being conducted. During the biometric verification before the exam, a candidate’s identity was found to be suspicious. Upon discovering discrepancies in the biometric matching, the center administrator promptly alerted the police.
Upon receiving the information, police interrogated the suspicious individual, leading to a significant revelation. The investigation revealed that Sushil Kumar Verma, a resident of Ballia district, was taking the CTET on behalf of the original candidate, Sona Samrat Maurya, using forged documents. The accused misused identification documents, including an Aadhaar card and admit card, to conceal his identity.
Police recovered the Aadhaar card, admit card, and photocopies of documents related to the original candidate from Sushil Kumar Verma. Preliminary investigations suggest that an organized gang may be involved in employing solvers for competitive exams.
The Kotwali Nagar police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Additionally, actions have been taken under the Uttar Pradesh Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Ordinance 2024.
The main accused, the original candidate Sona Samrat Maurya, is currently at large, and police teams are conducting raids to locate him. Police officials have stated that strict action will continue against those undermining the integrity of the examination process, and no leniency will be shown to the guilty.
