Fatal Collision on NH-9 Claims Two Lives in Delhi

New Delhi, February 12: A tragic road accident occurred on NH-9 in the Ghazipur area of East Delhi on Thursday morning, resulting in the deaths of two women and injuries to three others. The incident took place near the MCD toll booth in front of the Vinod Nagar depot.

According to police reports, the Ghazipur police station received a call about the accident via a PSR call. Upon receiving the information, a local police team promptly arrived at the scene. Initial investigations revealed that a Kia Seltos car, traveling from Ghaziabad, collided with a stationary container truck near the toll booth. The impact was so severe that the front of the car was embedded into the container.

The two women in the car, Deepanjali (38) and Neelam Garg (55), died at the scene. The driver, Deepanshu Garg, sustained injuries, along with two young children in the vehicle, Vivaan (5) and Vashu (3). All three were rushed to Max Hospital for treatment, where they are currently receiving care.

The crime team conducted a thorough inspection of the accident site. Police have registered a case and initiated further investigations to determine the cause of the accident. The families of the deceased have been notified, and the bodies have been sent to the mortuary. The injured individuals are reported to be out of danger.

Police officials indicated that initial investigations suggest the driver may have fallen asleep, leading to the accident. Authorities are currently reviewing nearby CCTV footage to gather accurate details of the incident. Additionally, they plan to interview the injured parties to gain further insights.

Officials emphasized the importance of driving slowly in foggy conditions and at night, and they are actively patrolling the roads. Ongoing awareness campaigns are being conducted to prevent road accidents.
