Eight Children Fall Ill After Consuming Toxic Seeds in Bihar

Patna, February 5: Panic erupted in Madurna village, located in the Chainpur police station area of Bihar’s Kaimur district, when eight children fell seriously ill after eating seeds from a diesel plant while playing on Wednesday.

According to local sources, the children were playing near the eastern pond of the village when they picked fruits from the nearby diesel plant and consumed the seeds. About an hour later, their health deteriorated rapidly, showing symptoms such as vomiting, dizziness, and nausea, which alarmed their family members.

The affected children have been identified as Lado Kumari (5), Twinkle Kumari (8), Aashirwad Kumar (7), Krish Kumar (8), Abhishek Kumar (5), Aditya Kumar (9), Khushi Kumari (12), and Arun Kumar (8).

Initially, the children were taken to Chainpur Hospital, where they received first aid. Due to their serious condition, doctors referred them to Bhabua Sadar Hospital, where all eight children were admitted for further treatment.

Dr. Tribhuvan Narayan from the Sadar Hospital reported that all the children are now out of danger and in stable condition. He mentioned that their treatment is progressing well, and they are expected to recover soon.

Doctors have urged parents to keep their children away from unknown plants, fruits, and seeds, as many wild plants found in rural areas can be highly toxic. Medical experts have noted that the seeds of the diesel plant are particularly poisonous to children, and even a small quantity can lead to severe health issues.

This incident highlights the urgent need for community-level education on poisonous plants to raise awareness and prevent similar accidents in the future.
