Dwajapriya Sankashti Chaturthi falls on February 5, Thursday, during the Krishna Paksha of the Phalgun month. It is believed that worshiping Lord Ganesha on this day alleviates troubles and brings prosperity.
Dwajapriya Sankashti Chaturthi is dedicated to the beloved form of Lord Ganesha, known as the remover of obstacles. The term ‘Sankashti’ translates to liberation from crises. Devotees observe a fast and perform rituals for Ganesha, seeking to eliminate all troubles and fulfill their wishes.
According to the Drik Panchang, the Chaturthi Tithi begins at 12:09 AM on February 5 and lasts until 12:22 AM on February 6. On this day, the moon will transit through the Virgo sign, and the Uttara Phalguni Nakshatra will be present until 10:57 PM. Sunrise will occur at 7:07 AM, and sunset will be at 6:03 PM.
In terms of auspicious timings, Brahma Muhurta will be from 5:22 AM to 6:15 AM, and Abhijit Muhurta will be from 12:13 PM to 12:57 PM. Vijay Muhurta will take place from 2:25 PM to 3:08 PM, while Amrit Kaal will be from 3:32 PM to 5:11 PM.
Conversely, the inauspicious Rahukal will occur from 1:57 PM to 3:19 PM, Yamgand from 7:07 AM to 8:29 AM, and Gulika Kaal from 9:51 AM to 11:13 AM.
On Chaturthi, offerings to Lord Ganesha should include durva grass, red flowers, modaks, laddus, betel leaves, and a mixture of yogurt and sugar. Applying a paste of sindoor and ghee is considered fruitful. Devotees should chant the mantras ‘Gum Ganapataye Namah’ and ‘Om Dwajapriyaya Namah,’ along with reciting the Sankasht Nashan Ganesh Stotra and Ganesh Atharvashirsha.
