Chennai, February 7: Political activities are intensifying across Tamil Nadu as the assembly elections approach. In this context, the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) is organizing a South Zone Conference in Virudhunagar district on Saturday, which will be attended by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
This event aims to unite the people and energize party workers ahead of the elections. The conference, themed “Tamil Nadu Will Never Bow Its Head,” is designed to boost enthusiasm among activists and strengthen organizational unity.
Party sources indicate that the conference will commence at 3 PM, expecting over 100,000 administrators and officials from 20 organizational districts to participate. Representatives from various levels, including district, city, union, town, and panchayat youth wings, are also anticipated to attend.
Organizers estimate that around 150,000 members may join the gathering. Extensive preparations have been made for this assembly, which will cover approximately 100 acres.
Recently, Deputy Chief Minister and Youth Wing Secretary Udhayanidhi Stalin personally inspected the venue and reviewed the arrangements. Before the event, CM Stalin released a video message welcoming young activists and praising Udhayanidhi’s leadership of the youth wing. He noted that the DMK’s growing organizational strength has unsettled opposition parties.
Political observers believe this conference signals that the DMK has entered election campaign mode, heavily relying on its youth base to build momentum for the upcoming electoral battle.
Over the past year, the DMK has held several meetings and conferences to keep volunteers active. These include a General Committee meeting in Madurai, the Mupperum Festival in Karur, a North Zone Youth Conference in Tiruvannamalai, and women’s conferences in Tirupur and Thanjavur.
